Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a warm, dramatic adventure about kindness, faith and the unlikely bond that forms between a simple, devout Indian man and a lost little girl from across the border. When a young mute Pakistani girl becomes separated from her family on a trip to India, Pawan — a cheerful, Hanuman-devotee with an unshakeable sense of right and wrong — takes it upon himself to reunite her with her people. What begins as a personal mission becomes a cross-border odyssey that tests his courage, conscience and resourcefulness. Viewers can expect a roller-coaster of emotions: plenty of lighthearted, often physical comedy and spirited moments of heroism; tense action and dramatic obstacles as Pawan tries to get the child safely into Pakistan; and deeply affecting, heartfelt scenes that emphasize human compassion above politics. The story also brings in media attention and a perceptive Pakistani reporter who helps shift public opinion, turning a private rescue into a story that resonates in both countries. Visually and tonally the film mixes lively song-and-dance sequences and scenic travel set-pieces with intimate, tender interactions between the protector and the child. The result is an uplifting, crowd-pleasing film that makes you laugh, keeps you on edge, and ultimately aims for an emotional payoff — a reminder of shared humanity, the power of faith and the possibility of reconciliation even across borders.
