Jhund (2022)

Jhund

Jhund is a moving, true‑story drama about Vijay, a 60‑year‑old retired sports teacher from Nagpur who refuses to look the other way when a gang of teenage goons from nearby slums sink into drugs, theft and violence. Believing these kids have untapped talent and need someone to trust them, he introduces them to football and slowly molds their raw energy into a disciplined, proud team under the banner of his NGO, Slum Soccer. What begins as informal games for pocket money grows into real passion, multiple setbacks and a fight to take the team all the way to the world’s biggest homeless‑soccer tournament. Watching Jhund you’ll get a mix of gritty realism and uplifting emotion: stark depictions of poverty and the kids’ struggle, energetic and suspenseful football sequences, and quiet, powerful moments of mentorship, sacrifice and redemption. The film balances social commentary with inspiring underdog sports drama, so viewers leave moved by the characters’ growth, hopeful about second chances, and impressed by the transformative power of belief and perseverance.
