Little Manhattan (2005)

Little Manhattan is a warm, small-scale coming-of-age romantic comedy set against the streets and parks of Manhattan. Ten-year-old Gabe thinks he knows his world until Rosemary, his smart, confident former kindergarten classmate, shows up in his karate lessons and turns everything upside down. As Gabe stumbles through awkward attempts to understand his new feelings — and watches his parents, Leslie and Adam, navigate divorce — the film follows his gentle, funny and sometimes bittersweet discovery of first love, loyalty and growing up. Viewers will experience a mix of nostalgia and tenderness: laugh at the innocent but earnest missteps of childhood, feel sympathy for a family in transition, and be quietly moved by the small, truthful moments that make first crushes feel monumental. Lighthearted, heartfelt and family-friendly, the movie offers charm, humor and a real sense of place in New York City.
