OMG: Oh My God! (2012)

OMG: Oh My God! is a warm, witty dramedy with a touch of fantasy that asks big questions about faith, hypocrisy and what it really means to believe. The film follows Kanji Lalji Mehta, an outspoken atheist who runs a small shop selling religious items — until an earthquake destroys his livelihood and his insurer refuses to pay, calling it an “act of God.” Outraged, Kanji does the unthinkable and sues God, turning a personal loss into a public courtroom battle that attracts ordinary people from many faiths and the ire of profit-driven religious leaders. Just when Kanji seems outmatched, a mysterious man calling himself Krishna Vasudeva Yadav appears, helping him fight the case, mend family bonds and expose how religion can be exploited for money. Watching the movie, you’ll get a mix of sharp satire and heartfelt moments: lively courtroom scenes and punchy, comedic exchanges sit alongside emotional, thought-provoking beats. The film blends humor and drama to challenge organized religion while ultimately offering an uplifting, humanist message about finding the divine in everyday life. Expect laughs, moral questioning, a few tender scenes, and a satisfying, hopeful resolution.
