PK (2014)

PK is a warm, witty and provocative blend of comedy, drama and sci‑fi about an alien stranded on Earth whose lost device forces him to ask the simplest — and most unsettling — questions about God, faith and how people are led by religion. The alien, who calls himself PK, arrives human‑like but childishly innocent; when his remote control (the only way back to his spaceship) is stolen, he embarks on a search that becomes a spiritual odyssey across modern India. Along the way PK befriends Jaggu, a spirited woman who helps him navigate human ways, and Bhairon Singh, a kindly helper who shows him the country’s everyday realities. PK’s inability to understand rituals and religious jargon exposes the contradictions and commercialized practices of self‑styled “godmen” (whom he dubs “Managers”), setting up both comic misunderstandings and fierce confrontations. The story moves between laugh‑out‑loud moments, heartfelt friendships, sharp satire and moments of real emotional weight as lives are mended and established institutions are challenged. Watching PK you’ll get an entertaining, visually lively film that also pushes you to rethink faith, superstition and what religion should mean: rational, compassionate and humane rather than fear‑driven or exploitative. Expect broad comedy, touching human drama, moral questions that linger after the credits, and a bold social critique delivered with charm and empathy. It’s a film that makes you laugh, makes you feel, and makes you think.
