Dr. Stone (2019)

Dr. Stone throws you into a wildly imaginative post-apocalyptic world where all of humanity has been frozen into stone by a mysterious flash. Thousands of years later, high schooler Taiju awakens to find a planet reclaimed by nature — and discovers he isn’t alone. His brilliant, science-obsessed friend Senku has already spent months reviving civilization’s lost knowledge and is determined to rebuild society from scratch using the power of chemistry, physics and raw ingenuity. Watching Dr. Stone, you’ll get a mix of pulse-pounding adventure and brainy problem-solving: inventive, homemade technology assembled from primitive materials; tense conflicts over resources and ideals; and big, optimistic goals that drive the characters forward. The series balances humor and heartfelt friendship with real stakes as the duo and their allies race to restore electricity, medicine and industry while facing rival factions who see the new world very differently. Expect vivid animation, fast-paced action sequences, clever “science experiments” that the show turns into dramatic set pieces, and plenty of “a-ha” moments that make you appreciate how everyday science works. It’s ideal for viewers who like shonen energy, cooperative teamwork, and upbeat, idea-driven stories where human curiosity and determination are the engines of survival and progress.
