Trailer Park Boys (2001)

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary comedy-crime series set in a run-down Nova Scotia trailer park that follows three lifelong friends — Ricky, Julian and Bubbles — as they hatch petty scams, dodge the law and try (and usually fail) to make easy money. Shot and edited like a documentary, the show blends broad, often crude humor with unexpectedly tender character moments: their schemes are ridiculous and chaotic, but the boys’ loyalty to one another gives the series a surprising heart. Recurring antagonists and comic foils — notably the alcoholic, ex-cop trailer-park supervisor Mr. Lahey and his devoted, shirtless sidekick Randy — keep the trouble coming, and the show thrives on running gags, improvisatory dialogue and escalating mishaps. If you watch Trailer Park Boys you should expect fast-moving, foul-mouthed comedy, frequent drug references, low-budget charm, and a lot of slapstick and situational crime capers. Episodes are episodic but character-driven, with both absurd set pieces and quieter, emotional beats; viewers who enjoy antiheroes, dark humor and mockumentary style (think irreverent, character-focused comedy with a criminal twist) will likely find it addictive. Content warnings: strong language, drug use, sexual content and occasional violence.
